I quit my job at Neela By Sapphire Fibres, one of the best places & teams I’ve had the privilege to work with. I gave my employer more than six months’ notice because I wanted to set an example, help them find the right replacement, ensure a smooth transition, and, most importantly, make sure they didn’t lose a single customer.
It was a dream job. Talented people, freedom to work, and easygoing bosses. Tons of international travel. Leaving that comfort & starting from ground zero wasn’t easy.
But I always felt life had more to offer than just a secure job. I didn’t want to live with the regret of not daring to follow the path I believed in.
Looking back, these 400 days have been some of the most meaningful of my life.
We’ve built Esipick as a remote-first company. One of the first perks? WFH.
It meant more time with my kids, especially my youngest son, who starts school next month, and with my elderly mother. Something I’ll always be grateful for.
My LUMS MBA class of 09 supported me unconditionally as I ran for the SDSB Luminites Association BOD elections. I didn’t win, but I gained so much more: new friends, connections across the alumni network, & daily inspiration from people far more accomplished than me.
As a class rep, we came together & created a Class Endowment Fund. We’ve started sponsoring one deserving student’s education at Lahore University of Management Sciences every year. Insha’Allah, we’ll grow this in the years ahead.
Esipick was a software services company for over a decade; it did amazing work across a span of industries. We narrowed our focus onward on
→ Anti-counterfeit & traceability
→ Productivity platforms
→ Purpose-led social impact projects
→ “Concept to Product” boutique consulting
AI made us realize that software services are becoming commoditized. So we created a product vertical. Spent 9 months building reGenesis with amazing founder Matthew Kaercher. We launched earlier this year. Got selected by Ignite—National Technology Fund to represent at GITEX AFRICA. We just signed one of the biggest cocoa companies in Africa, working with 40,000+ farmers, to implement reGenesis for EUDR compliance.
Somewhere along the way, I also started writing about disruption & textiles. One random post got me featured on the Jeansland Podcast, thanks to Andrew Olah. That episode turned out to be one of their most listened to.
I Learned, in the grand scheme of things, nothing is a random variable :)
Just 400 days in, & I already feel more purpose, clarity, & energy than I’ve ever had.
Over the next 700, I want to:
→ Build a global Micro Garment Factory franchise model
→ Develop an open-source platform for textiles
→ Gamify reGenesis for greater adoption
Life is a gift. It offers so much to those who take the risk of staying true to their inner voice.
The picture below was taken during a walk in the Scottish Highlands, one of those long, quiet moments when I was tossing around this decision.
I’m glad I made it.
